Your hosts David and Gillian Reynard, warmly welcome you to this delightful Victorian house which directly overlooks York's famous Knavesmire racecourse. The house was built in 1888 for a prominent York doctor and has been carefully converted to a quality hotel whilst retaining its Victorian origins. The hotel lounge is extremely spacious and elegantly furnished with antiques and overlooks the hotel gardens. There is also a small bar. The outstanding, thoughtfully equipped ten bedrooms exude charm of a bygone age. All are individually designed and decorated by us in the style of the period with wall coverings, fabrics, light fittings and carpets chosen after much deliberation and fun. Dried flowers are in abundance. Several of the bedrooms have antique half-tester and four poster beds, and some are also canopied. Two of the bedrooms are situated on the ground floor. All the bedrooms have their own ensuite facilities, including some with whirlpool baths and Victorian style bathroom fittings.
For your comfort all the bedrooms have colour television, radio, hairdryer, trouser press, beverage trays and a selection of magazines and books. A substantial English breakfast is served in the very attractive dining room which overlooks the garden and features fresh flowers, lace table-cloths and pretty blue and white plates on the walls.
